Account Executive Jobs in Washington, DC

An Account Executive in the logistics industry is responsible for maintaining and developing client relationships, managing accounts, and increasing sales within the company. They work closely with customers to identify their needs and work out how the company can best meet those needs, often through the delivery of new and innovative logistics solutions. They also negotiate and manage contracts, pitch ideas, and handle complaints or any major incidents, such as a delivery failure. Their goal is to preserve the company's business and promote its growth.

To succeed in this role, an Account Executive should possess excellent communication, negotiation, and sales skills. They should also be familiar with customer relationship management (CRM) software, have a solid understanding of supply chain procedures, and be able to work under pressure. In terms of certifications, a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Logistics or a related field is often required. Some employers might prefer candidates who have professional certifications such as the Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) from the Association for Supply Chain Management. Prior to becoming an Account Executive, a person could have roles such as a Sales Representative, Account Manager, or a Logistics Coordinator.
